About the Research Unit

Unit Members:
As part of its ongoing institutionalization and internal capacity-building process, Bisan Center is strengthening its Policy Research Unit which conducts original research to influence public policies towards addressing community needs while empowering those communities with knowledge and skills All this is done using a critical participatory approach. The Unit is not new, but grew out of the Center’s existing research work and staff.

Research currently underway:

  • Links between Palestinian and global youth issues.
  • A paper on youth and the cultural life.
  • A report on the role of youth-organizations in influencing youth related policies.
    The fieldwork is completed and workshops were held on such diverse topics as youth policies, youth law, policy awareness, working strategies, challenges and problems faced by youth organizations, and by the youth in general with regards to general youth policies development.
  • A research paper on the links between local youth issues and global youth issues.

Finished research:
  • Community-based organizations and local councils; vision and developmental role by Elise Aghazirian and Ahmad Addaarbeh, revised by Dr. Misleh Kana’ana.
  • The impact of networking in the rehabilitation sector in the West Bank by Firas Jaber and Iyad Amra, revised by Dr. Eline Kuttab.
  • Youth participation in decision-making in organizations by Dr. Majdi Al-Malki, Hassan Ladaadweh, and Yasir Shalabi.
  • Four policy papers underway;
